+C2FUe‑LS brings renewable fuels research to the public at the Science Pavilion in Zaragoza

On 20 and 21 December 2025, the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation team participated in the Science Pavilion in Zaragoza, bringing cutting‑edge European research beyond the laboratory and closer to citizens.

During the two‑day event, Lidia Martínez, Esther Raga and Vanesa Gil represented the EU‑funded +C2FUe‑LS project. Through interactive discussions and accessible explanations, the team engaged with a wide and diverse audience, ranging from students and families to energy enthusiasts and professionals.

The event generated strong interest from the public, particularly around the innovative use of cold plasma technology in the reactors developed by the project.  Visitors were keen to learn how cold plasma technology can operate at low temperatures (below 100°C) to convert CO, green hydrogen and renewable electricity into valuable products such as alcohols for the chemical industry, maritime transport and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

The +C2FUe‑LS team explained the principles behind this innovative approach, highlighting its high energy efficiency in the production of synthetic fuels from carbon valorisation. By turning CO₂into useful fuels and chemicals, the project contributes to carbon circularity, reducing reliance on fossil resources. This participation in the Science Pavilion provided an opportunity to present the practical applications of EU‑funded research and to exchange with visitors on topics such as climate change, hydrogen, and low‑carbon energy solutions. These exchanges highlighted the importance of public engagement in the development and understanding of new energy technologies.
