Work Packages

The +C2FUe-LS project is structured into five technical work packages (WPs) plus one for communication, dissemination and exploitation (WP6), and another one dealing with the management of the project (WP7).

Each WP addresses a specific set of tasks needed to achieve the project’s objective: converting CO2 into alcohols and key compounds, including fuels and high-value chemicals, using plasma technology under mild conditions (below 100°C and atmospheric pressure) coupled to bio-/chemo catalytic processes.

You will find below a description of the project’s WPs:

WP 1

Plasma-assisted Catalysis for CO2 conversion under cold conditions

Lead: Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón (INMA)

The objective of this work package is to explore plasma-assisted catalysis for selective and effective formaldehyde production through CO2 direct hydrogenation.

WP 2

Chemo-catalysis Towards Alcohols

Lead: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) Lorrain Laboratory of Molecular Chemistry Unit (L2CM UMR 7053)

This work package will develop bimetallic catalysts for the low T hydrogenation of aldehydes into alcohols.

WP 3

Digitally structured supports and catalyst integrations

Lead: Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Aragón (INMA)

The objective of WP3 is the tailored design, processing and optimization of digitally structured supports with superior mass-flow dynamics, heat management and controlled catalyst-support interactions. Hierarchical porosity catalyst supports will be optimized to effectively host chosen MOF based catalysts (from WP1-2-WP4). Formed reactor modules will combine individual reaction steps into a highly efficient multi-structured reactor.

WP 4

Reactor design, fabrication and validation

Lead: Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón (FHa)

This work package will design, manufacture and test the novel reactor for validation of the technology. Their objective is to target direct CO2 conversion to formaldehyde and alcohols at mild conditions and molecule on a gram scale.

WP 5

Impact assessment: sustainability & techno-socio-economic

Lead: Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón (FHa)

WP5 will use techno-economic analysis (TEA) as decision-making tools to guide the experimental WPs. They will assess the environmental and socio-economic life-cycle including potential scaling-up.

WP 6

Dissemination, Communication, and Exploitation

Lead: Aliénor

WP6 is set up to disseminate results to scientific and industrial community, evaluate innovation potential, and create political and social awareness into the use of alternative fuels from the use of H2 and CO2 emissions, in particular e-fuels for transport applications.

This work package will also contribute, upon invitation by the CINEA, to common information and dissemination activities to increase the visibility and synergies between Horizon Europe supported actions.

WP 7

Management and Coordination

Lead: Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón (FHa)

This work package is set up to manage the project with respect to administrative, financial and technical issues with highest quality and timely completion of tasks, as well to monitor and report the status to be able to take corrective actions. WP7 is related to all WPs and guarantees the successful execution of the project.
