On 11 December 2025, Vanesa Gil, +C2FUe‑LS project Coordinator and representative of Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón, took part as a panellist in the session “Women Driving the Energy Transition”.
The session was held during an awareness day organised by the CIIAE – Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage, under the theme “Renewable Energy and Energy Storage for a Sustainable Future”. The event brought together experts, researchers and stakeholders to highlight the role of women in shaping the future of the energy sector and to showcase female role models actively contributing to the energy transition.
During the panel discussion, Vanesa Gil shared insights from her professional experience in the field of hydrogen technologies and their application in the synthesis of transport fuels. She presented her work on synthetic fuels and chemicals derived from hydrogen, emphasising their potential to support the decarbonisation of hard‑to‑abate sectors such as transport and industry.
As part of her intervention, she also introduced the +C2FUe‑LS project, outlining its objectives and innovative approach to converting CO₂ into renewable synthetic fuels and high‑value chemicals using advanced plasma‑based processes. The discussion highlighted how hydrogen‑based solutions and synthetic fuels can contribute to a more sustainable, climate‑neutral energy system. Beyond the technical discussions, the session aimed to promote gender diversity and visibility in the energy sector. By showcasing the expertise and achievements of women working in renewable energy, hydrogen and energy storage, the event sought to inspire future generations and encourage greater female participation in science, technology and energy‑related careers.
